The Cambium PTP 820: When you need your network to stand up to heavy demands and harsh conditions

At WLANmall, we offer a number of wireless network infrastructure, 3G/4G backhaul, leased-line replacement, disaster recovery and video network transport solutions to meet just about any traffic and budget demand. We pride ourselves in knowing what the best solutions out there are to meet your specific needs and future goals.

For networks under heavy demand and harsher conditions, we really like the Cambium PTP 820 series of point-to-point licensed backhaul solutions. These field-proven point-to-point licensed microwave backhaul platforms come from a long lineage of great technology that WLANmall has worked with for years.

They support licensed frequency bands from 6 to 42 GHz and support superior Line of Sight (LOS) and Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology with up to 2048QAM for top-notch throughput and modulation and a capacity of 600 to almost 2000 Mgps. The 820 series comes in a variety of configurations: The PTP 820S (link) all outdoor, the PTP 820C (link) all outdoor with dual-core functionality and the PTP 820G 9link) split-mount, all indoor model.

The PTP 820C, with its dual-core functionality, allows for entry level investment but is upgradable as your system and bandwidth requirements expand. The basic model delivers 200 Mbps with ACM, but is upgradeable to the full-capacity model with a software license key to deliver 500 Mbps with ACM.When you need additional capacity, you can activate the second core and have the capacity to deliver up to 2 Gbps of capacity with the same unit. The 820 is an excellent path for growing, high-demand systems because it eliminates the need for forklift upgrades. No installations, no new hardware compatibility issues. It’s a smart up-front investment that will save you in the end.
